Ambassador Animal Manager

New Mexico Wildlife Center is hiring for the full-time position of Ambassador Animal Manager. NMWC is located 30 miles north of Santa Fe, NM and operates a wildlife hospital/rehabilitation facility along with its Ambassador Animal education programming. The Manager is responsible for ensuring best practicable standards for animal husbandry and training of our live animal collection which includes a variety of non-releasable native New Mexican amphibians, reptiles, mammals and birds. The Manager will have substantial experience with native wildlife species. The position requires experience in conducting presentations with live animals. The incumbent represents NMWC with the general public and is passionate about the impact of the organization’s mission and programs. The position manages all aspects of NMWC education programs, including on-site, off-site and virtual programs. The Manager is responsible for the training, scheduling, supervision and evaluation of education staff, interns, and volunteers. The Manager regularly presents education programs and engages with visitors. The position is a member of the NMWC leadership team. As such, the Manager is accountable for the successful implementation of programs, policies, and procedures in accordance with NMWC’s mission, strategic and operational plans.
