Teacher/Naturalist - School Programs Focus
Description
Organization: Lichterman Nature CenterJob Type: Full-time
Location: Memphis, TN
Teacher/naturalist will be focused on building and promoting school programs on-site at Lichterman and outreach opportunities at Mid-south area schools including Shelby County Schools, municipal schools, private and parochial schools and those in sister states of Mississippi and Arkansas. School programs are an integral part of the education effort at the Nature Center. The teacher/naturalist needs to have a high comfort level with talking to educators including school teachers, principals, and homeschool groups in the Mid-south and surrounding areas. Promotion of school and public programs will be a requirement by attending education events such as Teacher Orientation Night, STEM career fairs, and public events where a promotional table is appropriate.Other duties include teaching school and camp programs as needed, taking group reservations, budgeting and buying needed supplies for school programs. Bachelor's degree (Master's degree preferred) in science/education/natural resources field(s) and experience with handling and interpretation of wildlife and plants of the Mid-South is required.
