Curator/Educator
Description
Organization: Tanglewood Nature Center & MuseumJob Type: Full-Time
Location: Elmira, New York
Salary: $15.00-$17.00/hour
The Curator portion of the job serves as the primary animal caretaker of live animals- consisting of – birds of prey, mammals, fish and arthropods (native and exotic species). This job will include animal care- feeding, cleaning and vet visits. Curator/Educator will work with on staff Curator herpetologist to best care for reptile and amphibian collection. In addition, the Curator plans, develops, and maintains exhibits and displays. The Educator portion of the job provides educational programs to schools and the public both in house and off site. Position is 40 hours/week with sick/vacation/holiday benefits. Working days/hours- must be available Mondays-Saturdays (will work 2 Saturdays/month with following Monday off) 8am-5pm, some evenings when programs or fundraisers require. Salary range $15-$17/hour depending on education and experience. Education/experience: minimum 2 or 4-year science degree or vet tech (or similar) experience. Employee will be subject to a criminal background check.
