ANCA Welcomes New Staff

Changes are coming to ANCA! We welcome two new staff members, Asa Duffee and Sarah Reding. This is a new step for ANCA as both Asa and Sarah will work remotely, thereby expanding ANCA's geographical presence; Asa resides in Asheville, North Carolina and Sarah lives in northern Michigan. We look forward to their contributions to our organization, as well as to our professional field.

Asa joins ANCA as the Marketing & Communications Coordinator; he holds a bachelor’s degree in biology from Earlham College and has over six years of experience at environmental nonprofits. Asa maintains certifications in Google Analytics, Google Ads, and Hubspot Content Marketing, and is also a Certified Interpretive Guide. He is passionate about communications for multicultural audiences and strives to engage and amplify voices that have been historically excluded from conversations in the environmental field.

You can find Asa hiking the mountains of western North Carolina, where he will likely be photographing plants or other natural scenery. When he’s not in the wilderness with a camera, he spends his time playing Irish flute, studying Spanish, and dreaming of which edible plant he will next use at the food forest he manages on his family’s land.

Sarah Reding

Sarah is ANCA's new Events Coordinator. She has worked in the nature center profession for over 35 years as a naturalist and later a manager of education and conservation. She is a strong believer in lifelong learning opportunities for those in the profession. Sarah has numerous experiences coordinating and implementing regional and national conferences.

She has been a member of ANCA for years and was co-chair for ANCA Summit at the Kalamazoo Nature Center. She has also been on the national board of the National Association for Interpretation (NAI) and has co-chaired their national workshop.

When Sarah is not planning an event, you will find her in the woods or waters of Michigan’s Lake Huron Les Cheneaux Islands or leading trips around the US. She loves to ski, SUP board, kayak, hike, backpack, do yoga, and travel with her husband Wil.
